Dick King Tournament
End of Season Playoffs - The Dick King Tournament is named after a true champion of athletics in our community. He devoted countless hours to his children's joy of sports and in turn to Mustang Soccer from 1979 to 1985, when he died at the age of 39 from complications from a water skiing accident. He was president of the League for two years, was a member of the Danville Parks and Recreation Commission, and was instrumental in the creation of multi-purpose sports fields behind Baldwin Elementary School.
The Recreational season concludes with the end of season Dick King Tournament October 29-November 6 (Rec) and November 6-November 13 (Rec Plus).
It is a single-elimination tournament and will produce the league champion of each age group/gender for U8-U19 in both the Rec and RecPlus divisions.
Each team will play at least one game in the tournament regardless of their standings at the end of the season.
Games for Rec will begin on Sunday, October 29th. Games for Rec Plus will begin on Sunday, November 6th. Championship games will be played the following weekend. There will be midweek games for some age groups based on the number of teams in the age group. These will be played in the evening at the Mustang Soccer Complex with games starting at 7:15 p.m.
The winners of the U9-U12 divisions will be invited to play in the Junior Cup Festival. Dates are TBD.
The winners of the U14 divisions will be invited to play in the Founders' Cup Tournament. Dates are TBD.
The winners of the U16-U19 divisions will be invited to play in the California Cup. Dates are TBD.
The schedule for the 2022 Dick King Tournament will be available in October.
