Tournament information for CYSA Tournaments has changed. Tournament applications are to go directly to the tournament, not through the District 3 tournament coordinator. Please visit www.cysanorth.org for the latest information. This applies to U-14 and older teams applying to CYSA Tournaments. For U-13 and younger teams, please visit www.norcalpremier.com for information on applying to US Club tournaments.
Note that it is still unclear if CYSA will allow US Club teams to play in their tournaments without being registered in CYSA. More info as it becomes available! CYSA teams CAN play in US Club tournaments, but you have to buy US Club insurance ($50 per tournament) since CYSA won’t insure you in a US Club tournament.
Mustang U-14 and older teams may apply to CYSA tournaments beginning May 1st (US Club teams can apply at any time). As we typically have multiple teams in each age group and tournaments are becoming more flexible, we will allow two teams for each age group, based on the host club's rules. Coaches will need to meet (or do on-line) to "draft" their tournaments - both US Club and CYSA. Teams in each 2-year age group will need to select tournaments as a group prior to applying:
Example 1: A tournament has age groups of U-12, U-14 and U-16 for girls. The U-13 and U-14 girls teams will need to agree which two teams will apply to that tournament (via a draft). Two from the U-13/U-14 group may apply since this is not an "age-pure" tournament.
Example 2: A tournament has age groups of U-11, U-12, U-13, U-14 and U-16 for girls. Since this is an "age -pure" tournament for some of the age groups, two U-13 girls teams will be able to apply to the U-13 age group, and two U-14 girls teams will be able to apply to the U-14 age group. The U-15 and U-16 teams will still only be able to send two teams from the U-15/U-16 age group, however, since it is a combined age group for that tournament.
If your team is not accepted for a tournament that it applied to (receives a rejection notice), the team may re-apply to another tournament for that same weekend. Since rejection notices are sent out only a matter of weeks before the tournaments are held, the team should contact the tournament director of another tournament that they are interested in and see if there is any room left in that tournament. If there is, the team will need to send a tournament application to the tournament as they would for any other tournament. The tournament director may allow a third Mustang team at that point, if they are trying to fill up their tournament.
Devil Mountain Tournament note: One Mustang team per age group (U-9, U-10, U-11, U-12, U-14, U-16) must apply to the Mustang Devil Mountain, per club policy. Up to two Mustang teams per age group may apply. The U-13 and younger age groups will be run as US Club in the Devil Mountain, while the U-14 and older age groups will be run as CYSA (we think, at this point).
