U9-U10 Division 1 Teams Overview
Following is an overview of the Mustang Soccer U9-U10 program. This will give a good look at the direction of the program at the young ages and should answer any questions parents have about the program.

Number of Teams: There will be a U9 1st team, U9 2nd team and U9 3rd team on both the boys and girls side. There will also be a U10 1st team, U10 2nd team and U10 3rd team on both the boys and the girls side.
Season: The season begins officially May 1st and runs to January for these teams. This is a 9 month season. There is flexibility with the beginning of the season for this age group with regard to baseball and the boys side finishing baseball through July. Players are expected to make practice as much as possible during this time frame though it is understood that many boys are finishing their baseball commitments.
Financial: The cost for participation on a U9 or U10 team range from about $1200 to $1500 for the season. This includes coaching costs, field costs, tournament fees, travel costs for coaches, D1 fees to Mustang and overall operational costs of the team.
Training: Coaches are contracted to train the teams twice a week through the season. Many coaches will add in a third day of practice at the busiest times of the year to help prepare for tournaments etc. All coaches are licensed professionals well educated in the game and in the mentoring of children
Tournaments:
Players will participate in 4-5 tournaments over the year.
This will be primarily in the summer with a tournament in the fall and
one at the end of the season. One
tournament will be out of the
League Play: League play takes place from September to November. Teams will play a 8-10 game schedule in the Nor cal premier placed in the appropriate competition level based on their level of ability.
Tryouts: The tryout process is one where several evaluators will attend the first couple of tryouts. In the U9 age group, a pool of 36 players will be selected for Division 1. These players will then train together 3-4 times so that players are properly placed onto the correct level of team.
